The flames that once surrounded her body have withdrawn, yet their force remains inscribed in structure, in contour, in chromatic fracture.

This is not the myth of the Phoenix retold. There is no purified rebirth. What emerges instead is a woman who does not return to what she was. She does not restore an identity; she reorganizes it.
